Anne Hathaway's 'Dark Knight Rises' Premiere Gown Available for Pre-Order
The actress debuted a white Prabal Gurung resort 2013 peplum gown, which is now ready for pre-order on Moda Operandi.
When we see amazing designer gowns on actresses on the red carpet, our imagination runs wild about the ones we'd love to own, if only we could get our hands on them. Even if one could afford $3,000-plus gowns, once these hit the stores, they're gone -- Neiman Marcus and Barneys top-drawer shoppers whisk them off the floor to wear to weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and black tie events. But the website Moda Operandi, an e-retail site, has changed all that. Now you can get Anne Hathaway's white Prabul Gurung on there -- that's if you pre-order it now.

What's a pre-order? Welcome to the world of serious high-fashion shoppers. They place pre-orders on the next season's looks -- paying for them now -- and knowing they might not arrive for several months. This is not for the immediate gratification crowd, obviously. And it's for someone who really knows what they want. The $3,495 gown is lined in silk and the neckline and sides of the gown, when it's produced, will be five inches higher. The delivery, the site promises, will be between November 2012 and January 2013. This is exactly when resort season dresses ship to stores, as well -- since they are meant for a crowd that goes to warm weather places over winter holidays.

Designer Prabal Gurung gave Moda Operandi a quote to go with the gown: "I loved seeing Anne in this gown. She made it come alive." Now, for $3,495, it can make anyone come alive -- but there probably is not a great quantity of them.
