Ellen von Unwerth, Melvin Sokolsky Show Coming to L.A.'s Fahey Klein Gallery

Ellen von Unwerth and Melvin Sokolsky are two of the most famed fashion photographers in the world, and couldn't be more different: von Unwerth shot all the early Guess campaigns with Claudia Schiffer; she's known for sex kitten scenarios and a bit of post-modern savagry in her fashion spreads. She's done album covers, magazine stories, covers, and it goes on and on.

Melvin Sokolsky is a legend: he shot the famed "bubble photos" of a fashion model showing her elegant Parisian outfits on the Seine -- inside of bubbles -- in the 1950's. Of course, there were no computers then, no Photoshop - Sokolsky actually built those bubbles! But it created a place for him in the annals of fashion photography forever.

This week, on Thursday, Oct. 20, the Fahey Klein Gallery at 148 N. La Brea Avenue, will have a double opening for the two disparate and major photogs, each with a new book of work they'll be showing the work of -- and signing books.

The double show will run until Nov. 26. But we're definitely going to that opening! We can't even imagine how cool, well-dressed and interesting that crowd is going to be!!!

This caps a major week of fashion influx to Hollywood, as a horde of major British designers are headed this way to show their spring collection for the London Show Room project.
