Fashion's Night Out Fans Choose Kardashians Over Real Designers
The reality stars' DASH Boutique along with the Paul Frank, Diane Von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs stores were among the venues celebrating the night.
The fourth annual Fashion's Night Out took place not just in the nation’s fashion capital, New York City, but also all over Los Angeles, with the public preferring a store belonging to reality stars over designer boutiques on Melrose in West Hollywood.
And no wonder: The Kardashian sisters’ DASH Boutique threw the most lively party with a few family members actually in attendance. A DJ spun upbeat dance music as guests snacked from sweets-laden tables and sipped “DASH-ing cocktails” from Lola’s Martinis while checking out pop-up booths of new fall merchandise. Said matriarch Kris Jenner, who arrived with Kylie and Kendall Jenner: “if New York can have a fashion night, so can L.A.!” as her youngest daughter tried on and bought a hot-pink blazer.
Paul Frank celebrated Fashion’s Night Out with a neon-Native American powwow theme. Glow-in-the-dark war-painted employees in feather headbands and bow and arrows invited guests to be photographed on a mini-runway holding prop tomahawks. Christina Milian stopped in for her swag bag and a quick shoot with a couple of her friends. Extra features: a candy bar and a crafts table where staff handmade initial-studded Paul Frank coin purses on order for guests.
The fashion enclave put on more elegant but less-attended affairs. Kelly Wearstler offered champagne to guests as they explored the store’s conversation pieces in art, furniture and decor, while Diane Von Furstenberg served mint-raspberry lemonades and small appetizers. Guests were entered to win a thousand-dollar shopping spree giveaway. Marc Jacobs added a touch of whimsy with a photo-shoot area for guests that featured a monkey in a UFO as a backdrop.
