Fergie Fumbles at Clinton Fundraiser in Preposterous Prom Dress

What would you wear to a $6,500 dinner with former POTUS Bill Clinton?

Former President Bill Clinton celebrated his 65th birthday with a fundraising gala dinner and performance by Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks at the Hollywood Palladium on Friday.

His birthday was actually in August but hey, he's been really busy with the Clinton Foundation that has been improving global health, strengthening economies worldwide, promoting healthier childhoods and protecting the environment.

The celebrity guests at Clinton's belated b-day gala dinner/fundraiser included Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, Fergie (aka Stacy Ferguson) and Josh Duhamel, Jessica Alba, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy, Jane Fonda, Geena Davis, Julie Benz, Patricia Arquette, Sugar Ray Leonard, James Denton, Chevy Chase, Mira Sorvino and Zach Braff, among others.

Couples paid $6,500 to attend the fundraiser. So you'd think the gala's red carpet would be pretty impressive, right? Um, not so much. Which leads us to speculate that the price of admission broke some folks' banks.

Several of the ladies played it safe with politically correct LBDs such as Vergara, Bello, Benz and Sorvino. Even Nicks shaped up nicely in a sleek black pantsuit, while Fonda flaunted her svelter-than-ever silhouette in skin tight black pants, boots, a sequined jacket and a be-jeweled black choker necklace.

However, there were a few fashion missteps on the blue carpet. We're not naming names but if you check out the photo above and the Clinton Foundation: Decade of Difference fashion gallery, you'll see what we're talking about.

BTW: Later Saturday, Lady Gaga, U2's Bono and the Edge, Usher, and Kenny Chesney are scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl for yet another belated b-day bash. Who will sing 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President?' We're putting our money on our Lady Gaga. The concert will stream live on Yahoo.
