Andie MacDowell's daughter Rainey Qualley was this year's Miss Golden Globes and had the daunting task of escorting the winners off stage during the Golden Globe Awards Sunday (Jan. 15). Sounds like cake, right?
It's so not. One year I sat at a table smack by that stage exit and the winners are so disoriented and dazed that it's a wonder most of them don't just tumble down the steps. Plus standing in front of the entire Hollywood community during the whole show isn't a piece of cake either. I'm sure that past Miss Golden Globes such as Laura Dern, Joely Fisher, Dakota Johnson, and Rumer Willis would agree.
MacDowell has been a face (brand ambassador) for L'Oreal Paris for several years. So naturally, her eldest daughter has invaded her mom's bathroom cabinets and grown up experimenting with beauty products. The Hollywood Reporter found out some of their fave shampoos, cosmetics, and more.
The Hollywood Reporter: Your mom has been a L'Oreal face for several years. What are your favorite products from the skin and hair care line?
Rainey Qualley: I love L’Oréal Paris’ Go 360 Clean face wash. It's gentle and it still gets the job done. Plus it comes with a neat little Scrublet (a gentle face scrubbing brush) built right into the bottle. For hair I'm obsessed with the L’Oréal Professional Absolut Repairing Cream for very damaged ends because I get split ends like it's nobody's business, and this stuff makes my hair soft and healthy. Also, it may sound silly, but I love the L’Oréal Kids shampoo because it just smells so great!
THR: What are your favorite lipsticks, eye shadows and blush products/shades?
Qualley: I wear L’Oréal Paris’ True Match Super Blendable Blush in the color Soft Sun literally every day. I love it because it's in between a bronzer and blush. For eye shadow, I like the L’Oréal Paris HiP Studio Secrets Professional Metallic Shadow Duo in number 806. It's fun to use at night for a little bit of a smokey eye. I also love all of the L’Oréal Paris Colour Juice Lip Glosses – they are amazing!
THR: What beauty secrets did your mother teach you?
Qualley: The biggest beauty secret my mom taught me is to exercise, eat healthy and wear sunblock. Also she has made me very careful about not over plucking my eyebrows.
THR: What three beauty products would you want on a desert island? (Can be anything from skincare to hair and makeup)
Qualley: On a desert island the three beauty products I would bring are: 2-in-1 moisturizer/sunblock, conditioner and L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Full Definition mascara.
THR: What L’Oréal Paris makeup products are in your purse right now?
Qualley: I always keep a L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Blush and L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Full Definition Mascara in my purse, just in case.
Andie MacDowell's responses:
THR: What is the number one beauty lesson you want your daughters to carry on?
MacDowell: For me the greatest beauty asset is being authentic and kind. I also taught my daughters to wear sunblock, drink loads of water and to eat healthy foods.
THR: What are two of your favorite looks over the years from previous ad campaigns, red carpet events, movie posters, etc.?
MacDowell I have had so much fun over the years with L’Oréal’s creative team. They have had some crazy ideas like the ad with the birds nest in my hair to high humor commercials like "what chips me off " for nail polish.
THR: Any other favorite beauty products?
MacDowell: I love L’Oréal Paris’ EverPure Sulfate Free Color Care Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner. I also find the EverSleek Sulfate Free Humidity Defying Leave-In Crème helps me with my curly hair without frizz and it still looks clean. Revitalift is my fave beauty cream. For years it has been my go-to cream ....it has saved my skin ...I love how it feels and it really works. As for make-up, I love all the shades of Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick and Infallible Eye Shadow in all the gold tones for the center of my lid to make my eyes have a happy shine ....it makes the color pop.
