Grammy Fashion: Fergie Wears Granny Pants Under Transparent Orange Gown (Poll)

Fergie wowed everyone on the Grammy red carpet tonight with her bright orange lace couture gown by the ever-eccentric French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.

"I just got it two weeks ago from Paris," she told reporters, adding she had two dresses to choose from. "This was the more conservative one."

Even her mother -- her date for the night -- thought that was funny.

To properly fit into it, she admitted she's been juicing and strictly doing something called Diet Designs. And it seems to be working. She was dripping in Neal Lane gold jewelry, including gigantic gold hoop earrings that looked like they might catch on that orange lace collar at any horrifying moment. She also sported that painfully slicked-back ponytail that has become -- unfortunately -- her trademark.

Now, let's talk about that black '40s style underwear. As one carpet commentator noted, "Why the Granny pants?" Why indeed. But she would probably have gotten even more flack if she'd just worn a thong, right?
