Gwyneth Paltrow's Hair Dresser and Blow Dry Business Partner Talks to THR About Their New Salon
The Oscar winning actress, cookbook author and health food entrepreneur is adding another resume notch by partnering with celebrity hairdresser David Babaii on a blow dry salon in L.A. — and he gives THR the details.
When her trainer Tracy Anderson opens a flagship studio in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood next week, Gwyneth Paltrow will be on hand to co-host a private opening night party. Paltrow isn't one to often host soirees (particularly in Los Angeles) but seems to be making an exception because of her new partnership with celebrity hairdresser David Babaii in his new namesake blow dry bar that is part of Anderson's new studio complex.
Babaii is best known for doing the hair for Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Hudson, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, and of course, Paltrow. He was partners with Hudson in a natural hair care line for a while, too. And in his newest venture, he will create blow outs fit for a GOOP.
"I consider Gwyneth my muse, so her signature chic straight look will be part of our repertoire of looks to select from," Babaii tells THR. Other styles in the arsenal include beachy Bohemian waves, of-the-moment braids and polished up dos — all looks that feel very "Gwyneth."
The project is a full circle moment for Babaii, who lost 100 lbs. using Anderson's body sculpting services. He says the synergy between Paltrow and Anderson is what made this project feel right.
"We share the same philosophies about women, health and beauty. What more can a man can ask for?"
The salon will be available exclusively to members of Anderson's Brentwood digs. And Babaii will be training his staff to do blow outs as he does. Unless they train him first.
"One of my team members already taught me how to do a great new fish tail. The most important thing is they will also train me!"
