'The Hobbit' Premiere: Evangeline Lilly Hacks Off Her Hair and Adds Blonde Chunks (Poll)
The "Lost" star reveals a short choppy 'do with gold chunky highlights.
Out of the spotlight since the end of the hit TV series, Lost, Evangeline Lilly debuted a dramatic new hairstyle at the Wednesday premiere of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington, New Zealand.

Gone was her famous long wavy brunette hair that survived without deep conditioner on that island for years. In its place, a short, shaggy chopped look with chunky golden blonde highlights.
It's definitely not a cut for her Hobbit role. She sports a wig to play Tauriel, an elf who lives in Mirkwood. Her character does not appear until the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, due out next year. She also appears in the final film, due out in 2014.

Not counting becoming a new mom to her son Kahekili Kali in May 2011, her elf role is her biggest one since Lost ended in 2010.

Ironically, Lilly met Jackson through her 2004-2009 relationship with ex-boyfriend and Lost costar Dominic Monaghan, who played the hobbit Meriadoc Brandybuck in the first three Lord of the Rings films.
