Technically, it is before Labor Day. And stars attending the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday took the outdated fashion rule to heart, bringing a fresh dose of warm weather-friendly white ensembles to the red carpet.
"It's perfect for a daytime event," said stylist Ilaria Urbinati, who put Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev in a white and gold beaded Michael Kors shorts ensemble for the festivities. "The gold adds the right amount of glitz needed for an awards show."
Other fans of the snowy shade included Argo actress Clea Duvall, who went for a beaded white sheath by Pamella Roland that she successfully paired with contrasting black accessories, and 23-year-old Starlet actress Stella Maeve, who picked up her Robert Altman Award for ensemble cast wearing a sweet embroidered frock by Ted Baker.
Middle of Nowhere star and best actress nominee Emayatzy Corinealdi, Paula Patton and Salma Hayek also got in on the trend.
Here's hoping no one spilled.
