Jessica Chastain Transforms Her Hairstyle For 'Eleanor Rigby' Role
The wavy-haired actress trims her ginger locks into an architectural Mod sixties bob for her current movie, which is being shot in New York.
Jessica Chastain, who is in the midst of shooting one of several interesting new movies, has had her bright red below-her-shoulders wavy hair chopped off into an assymetrical chin-length, sharp-edged bob for the movie The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.

The movie stars Chastain and James McAvoy as a New York married couple, and tells the story of what happens to their marriage when the wife decides to go back to college. It's actually two full-length movies - one of them will be from the wife's point of view, one from the husband's. It's an interesting indie film experiment; and so is the new hair. Chastain is just one of many big female stars who's cut their hair off for a role lately, and wound up with a new image, and interest spiking as a result.
Charlize Theron, of course, shaved her head for the new version of Mad Max (starring Tom Hardy), and Anne Hathaway did nearly the same for Les Miserables. Hathaway looks incredibly chic with her new waify hair. Emma Watson wound up cutting her wavy locks after the Harry Potter movies were complete, went radically short - but now seems to be growing her hair back again. There's nothing like an actress really altering her look to get the public's - and fashion magazines' - attention. And fashion blogs', of course.
This is a serious new look for Chastain, and it really works with this short blue dress that's featured in the film. Generally, short haircuts demand wardrobe and makeup changes - more eye makeup, and slimmer, more tailored clothes. We'll see if Chastain's choices are affected on the red carpet this fall, which she will no doubt make an appearance on during awards season.
