Jessica Chastain Wears Prabal Gurung to Palm Springs Film Festival
The Golden Globe nominee walked the red carpet in a dark green and black panelled cocktail dress.
2011 is the year New York designer Prabal Gurung emerged as a hot red carpet name. Sarah Jessica Parker wore his clothes every time she could - she's already worn a look from his very hot spring 2012 collection, and so have a multitude of other actresses.
Now Jessica Chastain can join the illustrious group. She wore a simple but very chic dark green with black panelled cocktail dress to her first big awards show, the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala.

She also had on Cartier jewels (Cartier was a major sponsor of the event) and Jimmy Choo shoes, and wore her red hair in a simple soft wave, with a muted wine colored lip. "I chose this dress," she told The Hollywood Reporter, "because it has a retro feel but it's still modern. It feels architectural. I love how it cascades out at the hips."
Chastain seemed somewhat deer-in-the-headlights as many dozens of reporters were shouting out her name. "My throat feels like it's closing," she laughed. "I'm feeling a little out of body. This is the culmination of a life's dream. I cannot believe the people I'm in the company of."

She might have been a little intimidated celebrity-wise, but fashion-wise, she seemed quite confident. While Chastain has worn lots of colors, long dresses, short dresses, understated dresses and embellished Parisian dresses - this simple, well-cut dark green Gurung is one of her best, most flattering looks yet. The black mixed with the dark green panels is an original take on the sheath with the full skirt. We can't wait to see how she - and her stylist Elizabeth Stewart (who works with Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Amanda Seyfriend, Kristin Davis, etc) - follow it up.
