Jessica Simpson, Angelina Jolie Both Wore Eileen West Nightgowns for Their Baby Covers
THR learns how the two celebrity moms ended up wearing classic sleepwear by the San Francisco-based designer for their 'People' magazine baby photos.
Fashion Star judge Jessica Simpson may not have gotten the hefty $14 million paycheck that Angelina Jolie (and Brad Pitt) got for their People cover introducing their twins, Knox and Vivienne, to the world. Simpson reportedly received only $800,000 for her cover featuring her month-old baby Maxwell.
But ironically, both new moms donned sleepwear by the same designer, Eileen West, for their respective baby covers. Simpson wore an Eileen West Heirloom Dream Gown on the cover that hit stands this week. It retails for $85 and is available exclusively at Bloomingdale’s and at www.eileenwest.com.

In 2008, Jolie also wore a sleepwear gown by the San Francisco-based designer to hold her newborns.
So how did these two major celebrity placements come about? Quite naturally, it seems. West gave us the exclusive lowdown.
"We were thrilled to see Jessica wearing Eileen West couture on the cover of People magazine," said West. "It seems that someone who works for her company purchased the Heirloom Dream Ballet Gown and several others from the Eileen West website."
Not only did Jolie wear her design on the covers of both People and OK magazine, she also wore a West gown in W magazine that year, which included an exclusive editorial with photos taken by Pitt.
"It warmed our hearts to see her looking so natural and beautiful wearing our gown in those loving and intimate family photos," West said.

West told us that she's not sure who purchased the gowns for Jolie, but she does know that her stylist is Jen Rade, who just happens to be one of The Hollywood Reporter's 2012 Power Stylists.
West received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Intimate Apparel Industry’s annual Femmy Gala in 2005. The full collection is available nationwide at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Von Maur, Belk's and VermontCountryStore.com
