Jessica Simpson Sells Baby Photos for $800,000, Launches Maternity Clothing Line
Simpson has added a maternity collection to her wildly successful fashion empire. Can a children's clothing line be far behind?
Reality fashion TV star? Check. Hot Fiancee? Check. Baby? Check. Maternity clothing line? Check.
Fashion Star advisor Jessica Simpson gave birth to her daughter Maxwell on May 1, but she must have been working on her maternity wear for months because it just launched Monday.
This line marks the 24th category of fashion products in the Jessica Simpson Collection. The singer didn’t have to sing a single note to make millions from her shoe, apparel, accessories and jewelry lines, predicted to earn $1 billion by year's end.
There are photos of her maternity collection on People.com. Interestingly, the mag has also worked out a deal for Simpson's first baby photos. The first photos of Maxwell were sold for $800,000, Women's Wear Daily reports; not anywhere close to the $14 million Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt made for twins Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt made.
Of course, in a manner of speaking, Maxwell already made her magazine debut when Simpson posed naked (a la Demi Moore) for the cover of Elle. And Simpson will show off her post-baby weight loss for Weight Watchers for a reported cool $3 million.
Simpson's maternity clothes will be available at 700 stores -- Destination Maternity, Motherhood Maternity and Macy’s -- this fall with prices ranging from $36 to $69.
“I’m so excited to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great,” Simpson said in a press release. “You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off.”
We would not be at all surprised to see a Jessica Simpson line of baby and children's clothing very soon. Baby Maxwell, are you ready for your close-up?
