The focus of the night centered around the late journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, who wrote the highly acclaimed novel on which the film was based. Depp, who was a personal friend of Thompson’s, stars as journalist Paul Kemp, who travels to Puerto Rico to work, but ends up doing more drinking than actual working.
Director/writer Bruce Robinson’s film is set to open in theaters on Oct. 28.
