Justin Bieber Holds Selena Gomez's Hem at the AMAs: Courtly or Creepy?

The sight of a courtly Justin Bieber actually toting the trailing hemline of his date Selena Gomez's Armani gown on the American Music Awards red carpet probably made his female fan base swoon.

So why does it kind of creep us out? A. Because it sure looks like he's going overboard to appear like he's not the kind of guy who would knock up Mariah Yeater -- who claims he fathered her baby -- in a backstage tryst. As of the last report, she's dropped the paternity suit but Bieber still plans on taking a DNA test.

And B. even with his shorter hair the Biebs still looks extremely young and feminine. While we get the Old Hollywood costumes cliche, the oversize shawl-collar formal jacket swallows him, making him look slight (er) and small (er). He looks like he's playing dress up and that's not a good thing. Wearing obvious eye shadow, foundation, blusher and lip gloss certainly doesn't help him to look mature or masculine either. Frankly, he's looking more and more like Ellen DeGeneres.

Although… wait a minute. Maybe that's part of the devious PR plan too. It's worth mentioning that Justin  reportedly snuggled and serenaded Selena during Saturday's AMA rehearsals, facts which were conveniently leaked to Us Weekly.
