Kate Bosworth Stars - and Sings - in Topshop's New Holiday Film (Video)
The retailer, which is coming soon to Los Angeles, makes a Christmas movie with the actress, directed by her boyfriend, Michael Polish.
Fashion has been getting into the world of video for years now, and almost every brand has video stories involving their clothes and images on their websites and YouTube.
Now TopShop is getting into the game with its first Christmas movie -- a 360-degree interactive digital campaign starring Kate Bosworth singing "Winter Wonderland" a la Michelle Pfeiffer in The Fabulous Baker Boys. And she's really channeling the sultry Pfeiffer here, down to her custom-made Topshop red sequin dress and Topshop red lipstick.
Can Kate Bosworth sing? Could Michelle Pfeiffer? Does anyone care? She looks amazing in the short film, which was directed by her boyfriend, Michael Polish.
"This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion," Bosworth said in a statement. "I have always been a fan of the Topshop brand, and it has been an honor to work with Sir Phillip Green and the team. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it."
The dress and shoes will be available as a special made to order on Topshop.com in conjunction with the new Topshop store opening in L.A. in February at the Grove. The makeup used in the film will be available to order immediately on Topshop.com
But this isn't just for your viewing pleasure. Topshop is aiming for a No. 1 song; the track is available through iTunes, where viewers will also be able to download previous movies starring Bosworth along with The Fabulous Baker Boys and films directed by Polish. The track will also be available through Shazam and Spotify. This film will run across all social media platforms, Topshop.com, cinemas, digital billboards, giant screens installed in flagship stores and interactive audio windows globally.
To build anticipation around the performer, Topshop ran a multi-faceted campaign for five days across print, social and digital media partners using the specially created hashtag #whosthatgirl?
This isn't the first time Bosworth has starred in a fashion video: She did one with French designer Vanessa Bruno a few years ago.
