Kate Middleton Picks a Polite Pink Frock for Queen's Jubilee Lunch for Visiting Royalty
The Duchess of Cambridge eschewed her favored blue hue in favor of a more demure pale pink to dine with sovereign monarchs from around the globe.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William were among the British royal family who gathered for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee lunch for sovereign monarchs at Windsor Castle.
Prince Harry, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, along with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were also there for the polite affair.

Kate didn’t wear her usual favorite shades of blue. Remember she was a knock-out recently in a turquoise Jenny Packham gown. For this affair of state, she choose instead a pretty polite, pale pink Emilia Wickstead long-sleeved dress with a pleated knee-length skirt. And she accessorized with a pair of blush-colored Prada pumps.
Kate certainly raised her wardrobe budget for this affair. Prada shoes don’t come cheap and her dress is said to cost $1,200 British pounds, which is roughly $2000.
Wickstead has worked with Giorgio Armani, Narcisco Rodriguez and Proenza Schouler, as well as serving on the American Vogue editorial board and offers both couture and ready-to-wear designs. This particular design seems to be from her Fall/Winter 2012 collection.

It's been reported that twenty-four kings and queens, eight princesses, a sultan, an emperor, a grand duke, an emir, and an empress were on hand, including King Abdullah II of Jordan and his wife, Queen Rania, and Queen Margarita of Bulgaria, the Emperor and Empress of Japan, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and the King and Queen of Sweden. Even the King of Bahrain attended.
That's a daunting number of international cultures. Who knew there were that many royal families left in the world. No wonder Kate decided to play it safe with such a demure dress.
