Katy Perry's Pre-Grammy Looks
The pop star goes sleek and glam for two looks before music's biggest night: Is John Mayer the glam influence?
There were two major soirees this pre-Grammy weekend that are almost as important as the Grammys themselves -- and certainly so fashion-wise. Perhaps this will be the most sedate Grammys of all time when it comes to clothes -- after all, CBS wrote to the nominees and performers, asking them to avoid nip-slips, butt-crack cleavage and pretty much every other kind of cleavage. Looks like Katy Perry's taking it seriously already -- or her new man John Mayer is having a very chic grown-up effect on her. She looks more like an Oscar nominee than a Grammy one.
At the Friday night MusiCares Person of the Year Gala honoring Bruce Springsteen, at the L.A. Convention Center, Perry donned a full-length gown Emily Blunt wore early in the year -- a rather new trend, celebrities not minding that dresses they are photographed in were already worn by other celebrities. It's very Kate Middleton of them, isn't it? Almost environmentally friendly. The dress was an orange -- color of the coming moment -- halter with a jeweled neckline by Alexander McQueen. This was orange orange, not red orange; this spring we'll be asked to tell the difference.
Saturday night, she and Mayer attended the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in a white Rafael Cennamo spring 2013 long-sleeved rather demure gown, with pearl embellishment. She actually didn't even wear much makeup -- and looked a lot more chic than her usual Jessica Rabbit self.
