If you’re follower of costume designer Colleen Atwood, a devoted Kristen Stewart fan or a Chris Hemsworth admirer, Universal is throwing you a great party. It's called the Snow White and the Huntsmen Pop Up Experience and it opens at 7710 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood on Saturday, May 19.
Available for viewing every Saturday and Sunday (11 AM-4 PM) until June 3, you'll be able to see up close and personal several costumes worn by Kristen and her Huntsman co-star Chris Hemsworth. All were designed by Colleen Atwood, a three time Oscar-winning costume designer, who also designed the costumes for Dark Shadows and is already working on Johnny Depp's new film, The Thin Man.
Additionally, you can bring your own items or select from the available items on display at the boutique and have them silkscreened with awesome Snow White-inspired designs. There’s already a call out for original artwork inspired by the film. Of the submissions, up to 10 artists' work will be chosen.
According to Chris Johnson, Speciality Publicist at Universal Pictures, “You pick the designs and where you want them and walk out with your own one-of-a-kind item." He also hinted that a very famous local LA artist will also be taking part in the experience. But we couldn’t pry the name out if him. Are you thinking who we’re thinking? Could it be …Banksy? We can dream.
Universal did a similar Pop Up Experience for Scott Pilgrim Against The World, which was attended by Kieran Culkin and other stars from the film. So we wondered if Chris and Kristen were planning to check out the Pop Up Experience.
"They're really busy," Johnson explained. "From now to the film’s opening, they are pretty much locked in. But I know they would love to come."
We don't know Chris's sked, but the worldwide UK premiere of Huntsman is on May 14. We also know that Kristen and boyfriend slash Twilight star Robert Pattinson will be in Cannes together. They will attend the May 23 premiere of her new film, On The Road, based on Jack Kerouac's iconic Beat Generation novel.
Rob's new film Cosmopolis -- directed by David Cronenberg and based on the novel by Don Delillo -- is also showing at Cannes on May 25. It's pretty safe to expect Kristen to be his date.
Both films are in competition. Rob's already has a distributor; the Canadian-based Entertainment One company has locked up North American and UK distribution rights. And AMC has just snapped up US distribution for On The Road, which will hit theatres this fall.
So, see? She really IS busy.
