Gucci's New Spring Collection Will Highlight the LACMA Art + Film Gala
Last fall saw the initiation of a new kind of L.A. event -- the Art + Film Gala put on at the L.A. County Museum of Art -- and it married the worlds of film and art in a unique way, and a unique crowd.
It was very well attended by A-list actresses -- and because Gucci sponsored/presented the event, ladies like Evan Rachel Wood and Kate Bosworth showed up in spring 2012 Gucci looks straight off the runway. It was the season of the chainmail beaded flapper dresses, and they certainly came out in full force that night. It turned into a major fashion event, in the end, because the women who went took it so seriously as a fashion night out.

Oct. 27 is the date of the second annual Art + Film Gala, honoring L.A. artist Ed Ruscha and the late filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, whose tribute Steven Spielberg will present, and hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio and Eva Chow. And on top of the cultural interest, no doubt Gucci's spring 2013 collection will turn up on some of these already listed attendees: Salma Hayek, Bella Heathcote, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jennifer Westfeldt (we expect her there since Jon Hamm is listed as attending), Diane Keaton, Wood and Kate Beckinsale, and the entertainment will be Florence & The Machine, so we can already see Florence in some colorful Gucci spring gown. Or will she go for the white-sleeved gown with coral beading at the neckline? Would really be something with her hair.
Almost all the gowns were in solids and had slim column shapes with ruffles at the neck or sleeves. There were rich shades of kiwi green, a reddish pink raspberry color, a deep blue, citrine yellow (big at the Emmys) and, of course, gowns in black or white. So this is going to be one colorful gala, that's for sure.
