Last week, MOCA at Pacific Design Center opened its "The Total Look Show," a collaboration between designer Rudi Gernreich, model Peggy Moffitt and photographer William Claxton. This week, LACMA will present Mid-Century Modern Fashion Magic on Wednesday, March 7 at 2 p.m., a lecture and presentation that's open to the public for a $15 fee.

As part of the Pacific Standard Time show, "That California Look: Mid-Century Fashion Magic" is a lecture with the museum's costume and textiles curator Kaye Spilker. Spilker, with special guests, will talk about how California influenced the beginning of "playclothes" due to its climate, and about apparel pioneers in California from the 1930s to the 1960s, including Gernreich, whose show is at MOCA right now.

We understand that some of the best vintage retailers in L.A. will be present, including Cameron Silver, Esther Ginsberg, Doris Raymond of the Way We Wore and Paperbag Princess' Elizabeth Mason. We're expecting some pretty amazing people/fashion watching. Some of these vintagistas donated some of the pieces that are in the show.
