Lady Gaga Channels Ru Paul on New 'Vogue' Cover
The pop star dons an oversized blonde weave and a metallic purple gown by Marc Jacobs.
Finally putting the rumors to rest, Lady Gaga officially unveiled her second Vogue cover Wednesday.
The pop sensation had long been rumored to appear on the mag’s September issue, especially considering all the projects she is currently promoting. Gaga’s first fragrance, Fame, is due to hit shelves in September, and she recently revealed the title of her forthcoming album, ARTPOP, though a release date has not yet been set.

In the cover shot, Gaga stands demurely with her hands behind her back, donning a metallic purple mermaid gown by Marc Jacobs. The singer tweeted that she was styled by Grace Coddington and that she was “channeling fozziebear” with a big, blonde afro.
But later, Gaga acknowledged another inspiration for the look.
“Who else sees me channeling @RuPaul on the COVER of VOGUE,” she tweeted. “If only I was as fierce as you bitch. I did try to come for you with that weave.”
Ru Paul responded in kind, writing, "Cover Girl @ladygaga U Betta Werkle, Bitch!"

Continuing her habit of posing in the nude (see: Harper’s Bazaar’s April 2011 issue and a recent TwitPic involving Gaga, a pool and boyfriend Taylor Kinney), the pop star revealed a second photo from her Vogue shoot. This time, Gaga poses in nothing but her birthday suit and an oversized hat by Steven Jones.
The highly anticipated cover (and story, via Jonathan Van Meter) marks Gaga’s second time gracing the mag with her presence in two years. She first appeared on the cover in March 2011 donning a pink wig and no eyebrows.
