'Mad Men' Star Elisabeth Moss Goes Platinum Pixie (Poll)
The Emmy-nominated actress changes her image with a sexy short blonde do, just in time for the TV industry awards on Sept. 23.
Elisabeth Moss plays Peggy Olson, the once-overweight, dowdy young woman who has risen from the secretarial pool to join the boys club as an ad copy writer.
Career woman Peggy always seems to be in work mode in the all-male ad department so she just hasn’t had any sizzling costumes, like Betty Draper (January Jones), Megan Draper (Jessica Pare) and Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks).
And her hairstyle -- a plain brown side-parted pageboy -- hasn’t changed much either.
But all that may be about to change.
Moss turned up at the Tuesday New York screening of For a Good Time, Call.., wearing a sexy black lace Dolce & Gabanna dress and sporting an adorable platinum blonde pixie short hairstyle.
"I wanted to do something really different," Moss told Us Weekly. And yes, so far, she’s having more fun. "People still recognize me because I always looked so different from Peggy before," she admitted to the mag.
Coming on the heels of Miley Cyrus platinum blonde short haircut heard 'round the world, one has to wonder if she was inspired by the singer's newsmaking haircut.
But we also wonder if the cut could be part of Peggy’s transformation on the show? After all, at the end of last season, she had left Sterling Cooper Draper Price for a rival ad agency. And Moss has revealed to Rolling Stone that she has signed on for two more seasons of the AMC series.
So is this new do a nod to the pixie cut sported by '60s British model Twiggy? The timing would be about right, period-wise. And Lord knows Miss Peggy could use a new look, now that she’s out from under Don Draper's (Jon Hamm) shadow.
"She will be the same Peggy we know and love,” Moss told Us. OK. But wearing a Peggy Olsen wig or her new short blonde hairdo?
