Madonna Launches Her First Fragrance, Truth or Dare. What Took So Long?
One thing you can be absolutely sure of: Madonna's very first perfume will be hydrangea-free.
Pop legend Madonna, 53, has announced her very first fragrance called... Truth or Dare. And it's, um, about time. Every celebrity (Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian) knows that making scents makes mega-dollars and mucho-cents. Far younger stars such as Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff, and Justin Bieber already have their own perfumes/colognes. Taylor Swift just launched hers, Wonderstruck. And Britney Spears actually has six scents.
STORY: Madonna says New Album Will be Released in Spring 2012
So what took Madonna so long? She explained (sort of): "I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me but that other people could relate to as well. Something honest, and yet daring, hence the name Truth or Dare.”
Whatever. The scent has been created by Coty Prestige and will be available exclusively at Macy's in April 2012, just in time for her new album. Naturally, new images of Madonna will soon be everywhere for the global onslaught of print, television, and online ads produced in collaboration with Fabien Baron of Baron & Baron whom she's worked with on many projects, including “Sex,” her infamous 1992 photo essay on sexuality.
“Madonna is an artistic phenomenon whose vision has helped define the cultural zeitgeist for nearly three decades. Her fans around the world have an unparalleled devotion and will be eager to experience a unique, and more personal, materialization of her talent,” Michele Scannavini, President of Coty Prestige gushes.

So the big question is what Truth or Dare will actually smell like. According to Coty, the perfume will be a unique blend of narcotic florals, balanced with addictive woods and vanilla to give it a timeless yet modern, dark but light scent. The bottle also plays up the Truth or Dare duality – a "classic and sophisticated shape, with modern and edgy detailing," explains the press release. With a symbolic gold cross above the gold letter M.
Now that we know how much Madonna hates hydrangeas, we predict that there won't be a whiff of them in her fragrance.
The relatively inexpensive scent will be available in several sizes and products: Eau du Parfum 75ml $68, 50ml $55, 30ml $39, Body Lotion $28, and Shower Gel $24.
