Madonna, Macy's Team for Retrospective of Singer's Iconic Fashion
The one-night-only L.A. exhibit will feature several of the "Like a Virgin" singer's most memorable ensembles from the '80s to now.
In order to promote her Material Girl juniors line at Macy’s, Madonna is cleaning out her closet and dusting off the ‘ol cone bras.
“Madonna’s Fashion Evolution” is a one-night-only exhibit that features eight of the songstress' best-known outfits, which will be on display from 6-8 p.m. April 25 in the Material Girl shop at the Macy’s Century City location in Los Angeles. Material Girl is designed in collaboration with Madonna's daughter Lola and is sold exclusively at Macy's.

The exhibit will include Jean Paul Gaultier-designed corsets complete with legendary conical breast cups from the 1990 “Blonde Ambition” tour and the neon green stretch skirt she wore in the 1984 "Borderline" video, a collaboration between designer Vivienne Westwood and artist Keith Haring.
With the help of longtime stylist and costume designer Arianne Phillips, Madonna carefully selected the pieces for the Macy’s exhibit, which will be the first time the “Papa Don’t Preach” singer will loan out pieces from her personal archives for a display that is dedicated solely to her costume history.
Madonna has previously lent several of her “Blonde Ambition” corsets to a Gaultier exhibit, “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.”
A recent ensemble that is set to be featured in the pop-up is the opening “Vogue” look from her 2004 “Re-Invention” tour -- a pale purple beaded silk corset by Christian Lacroix and black spandex boy shorts by Capezio.

Perhaps the most infamous outfit on exhibition will be the corseted wedding dress that the ever-fashionable superstar accessorized with fingerless lace gloves and a silver “Boy Toy” belt. Madonna donned the ensemble during her performance of “Like a Virgin” on the 1984 MTV Music Video Awards.
“The pop-up exhibit at Macy’s perfectly exemplifies the inspiration and spirit of the Material Girl line and will give my fans a great opportunity to see the evolution of my style over the years," Madonna said in a statement.
