Madonna's MDNA Tour Costumes Feature Designs by Gaultier, Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang
The MDNA tour kicks off in Tel Aviv tonight - and Madonna will have eight costume changes! Here's a preview:
You know the Madonna DNA: big, bigger, best, bester - she only move forward, full steam ahead, never back. And her MDNA tour will be proof of that - it has four acts, three costume designers just for her, several for the dancers and band, and 700 pairs of shoes are going on the road around the world.

Once again, award winning stylist and Oscar nominee Arianne Phillips has worked with Madonna for the looks of the tour. Amongst M's eight changes will be outfits by her longtime friend and collaborator Jean Paul Gaultier (fresh from the Cannes Film Festival Jury), designer Jeremy Scott (who lives in Los Angeles and is also famous for his Coachella party) and probably the hippest young designer out there, Alexander Wang. We know the Gaultier look is quite reminiscent of his famous Madonna cone-bra look from 1990: but it's a cone-bra leather caged corset worn over a stiff white shirt with a black tie. Madonna always pulls a masculine/feminine conundrum on every tour. As for Scott and Wang, this will certainly up their sales and their visibility.
Italian duo Dolce & Gabbana - who Madonna has worn off and on the stage for years - dressed the entire band. They also designed the looks of the background vocalists. And the back up dancers have cool looks, too - vests by Fausto Puglisi and J Brand custom jeans. But they have a lot of them - the dancers change somewhere between ten and fifteen times, depending on the individual.

Madonna will wear shoes by Prada and Miu Miu - she sported Prada and Miu Miu shoes on her Superbowl half time performance, too. But she and the dancers will also sport looks from her own newish collection called Truth or Dare by Madonna - which includes shoes, underwear, and eventually, a full line of clothes. These will be carried in stores across the country - so what better advertising for them? They just hit the market in April. All in all, Arianne Phillips told WWD, the company will be hauling 700 pairs of shoes around the world. We wouldn't want to be the guys who are hauling all this booty!!!
