Marion Cotillard's 'Dark Knight Rises' Premiere Look: Dior Couture by Raf Simons
The star is the first actress to boast a dress from the designer's debut collection at the house.
For The Dark Knight Rises London premiere Wednesday, both Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard pulled out all the fashion stops. But it was Cotillard who got the evening’s real coup--the first dress from Raf Simons' debut Dior couture collection. It came down the runway in Paris less than two weeks ago, and captures the perfect 1940s movie star look.
Cotillard, of course, is the face of Dior, so she got first dibs on the dresses. And she did Simons proud. The Dark Knight Rises is a big, big movie and Cotillard is now a big, big star, so it was a great way to debut his couture.

Cotillard's Dior short white ballerina look for Monday's New York premiere of The Dark Knight Rises (which was not Raf Simons) was not nearly so chic. In fact, it was one of Ms. Cotillard's fashion low points.
She isn't suited to little girl looks. But the London look almost reminds us of one of her characters, French singing star Edith Piaf.

Hathaway, the other female star of Christopher Nolan's soon-to-be blockbuster, had one of the great looks at the New York premier: a white filmy Prabal Gurung resort 2013 peplum gown that was magnificent to say the least. In London, she backed it up with an interesting Gucci gown - a pale champagne or very pale green tone with no waist, not fitted, with a floral halter neck. It's from Gucci's resort 2013, and it's quite innocent, making her look very young and fresh with her new pixie haircut.
Speaking of which, when Emma Watson cut her hair into a pixie, she started to look better in clothes. It's something to think about, though it helps to be waif thin, of course.
