'Million Dollar Decorators' Kathryn Ireland, Nathan Turner Open L.A. Home Stores
Interior designer Jennifer Ridel launches a showroom while Rick Owens reveals his furniture line at Maxfield.
There is a crop of new home stores to visit in L.A. and The Hollywood Reporter has rounded up the most notable spaces to score some interior design swag.
Kathryn Ireland: A key player on Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators, the British-born Ireland, has taken her design sensibility (often described as comfortable, bohemian and family-friendly) to a boutique space in West Hollywood, which features her signature fabrics and accessories. Wallpapers from designers Veere Grenney and Michael Devine, as well as antiques and Ireland-designed lamps, rugs and beds, can be found in the shop. (636 North Almont Dr.).

Nathan Turner: The Million Dollar Decorator has moved his eponymous shop to a new West Hollywood location. The California native, fuses his love for travel into his design aesthetic—which can be described as laidback, collected and undecorated. His store features antiques, fine art, furniture (Turner has a line with Elite leather), and accessories. He also carries fellow Million Dollar Decorators' star Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s floor line in the back of the shop. (8546 Melrose Ave.).
Community & Co.: In order to create a salon-style interiors experience, owner and interior designer Jennifer Ridel opened up a showroom space comprised of finely-curated new and vintage furniture pieces. Design buffs can also expect to find home accessories, fabrics and art. Renowned designer Charles Hollis Jones, who crafted the award-winning Edison lamp, has chosen the space to showcase his designs (such as his backgammon table), amongst Ridel’s Fenix line (think sculptural art pieces) and Community & Co.’s Foundation line of upholstery staples.
“It really is the ability to manipulate space and curate environments with design and the overall atmosphere that changes your mood immediately,” says Ridel of her eclectic showroom, “It is my goal that each person feels that change when they walk in to the space, and then wants to transfer that to their home.” (8259 Melrose Ave).
Rick Owens: On the heels of his exhibition TURBO-L.A.-MONUMENTAL, his first solo furniture presentation in Los Angeles at Maxfield Gallery, the fashion (and now furniture) designer’s pieces are on display at the store’s retail space. Well-known for his grungy yet glamorous clothing designs, Owen’s furniture follows a similar aesthetic, employing materials such as plywood, mink, alabaster and crystal. His limited edition pieces include the “Egyptian Chair” and the “Half Box Chair” carved from bone. (Maxfield Gallery: 8818 Melrose Ave., Maxfield: 8825 Melrose Ave.).
Motif: This quaint lifestyle store features one-of-a-kind home décor pieces as well as furniture items, sourced from Europe, South America and Asia. Rare lighting pieces and other home accents, which range from 17th century antiques to mid-century pieces, can be found within the colorfully designed space. The concept of the shop—which also boasts an attached cafe featuring seasonal and organic fare—is simple: “people who come here can expect the unexpected,” said owner Elishia Bolour (the other owner is her sister Sasha Shokrian). (930 South Robertson Blvd.).
