Noomi Rapace vs. Rooney Mara: Will the Real Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Please Stand Up?
The two Lisbeth Salanders will be battling it out on the red carpet very soon.
Noomi Rapace is the Swedish star of the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, shot in the Swedish language with Swedish stars. Rooney Mara is the new Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's American interpretation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. We don't need to compare them; they're very different actresses. Although their performances will undoubtedly be compared. But here's where these two will really battle it out: on the red carpet. Noomi's new film, the sequel to Sherlock Holmes, opens December 16. Rooney's film opens December 21. So get ready for the Noomi vs. Rooney smackdown!
What's interesting is that the two stars are going in polar opposite directions: Noomi is wearing Giambasta Valli gowns on the red carpet, looking very chic and ladylike -- not like her punky Lisbeth character at all. Now she's a chic Hollywood star -- and she does have a slew of new films coming out, all big Hollywood films. Rooney, on the other hand, actually lost weight for her role -- and she was tiny to begin with -- and with her punked out hair and very short bangs and her very pale skin and little makeup -- she looks a little ghostly right now. However, she did attend the Rodarte spring 2012 fashion show in New York with Anna Wintour, as she's on the cover of November Vogue, wearing amazing designer clothes.
Clearly, both these ladies love fashion and want to make an impression -- so who are you going to put your money on to get their hands on Chanel Couture?
