Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis Continue Red-Carpet Style Streak at BAFTA Awards
The actresses wore Tadashi and Valentino, respectively, to Sunday's ceremony in London.

We're headed into the home stretch of awards season fashion -- now we're into the Oscar gown handicap moment. At the BAFTA Awards in London, Octavia Spencer continued on her Tadashi Shoji thread. Tadashi showed his fall 2012 collection in New York this week, so he's been one busy designer, creating Spencer's personal awards wardrobe while finishing his own show.
The Help star's white shirt and black-tiered skirt ensemble, accented with a YSL belt and a red clutch, was quite chic -- and the multiple tiers remind us of the Alaiia gown Charlize Theron wore to the Critics' Choice Awards. Ruffled skirts and dresses are at the height of her popularity for spring -- sort of like Spencer, who picked up another best supporting actress award at the BAFTAs. Why change designers now in mid-lucky stream? But her black-and-white London look was a nice departure from her usual silver and champagne dress tones, all Tadashi.

Spencer's Help co-star, Viola Davis, on the other hand, changes designers pretty much every show. For the BAFTAs, she wore an an eco-conscious dress by Valentino, made in conjunction with Livia Firth's green-fashion movement -- the British press reports it's made from recycled soda bottles! But it emulates Davis' awards season look: a strong bright color (peach), one shoulder, and a tight bodice with a flowy skirt. On this gown, though, she's showing a lot of thigh as the dress is slit up the side, a spring 2012 trend.
