Oscar Fashion: Amy Adams, Jennifer Hudson, Helen Hunt Hit the Blue Notes
The red carpet was filled with blue on Sunday, with looks from Oscar de la Renta to budget-friendly H&M.
There was a blue haze cast over Oscar gold Sunday, with a bevy of red carpet beauties sporting varying shades of blue gowns at the Academy Awards.
Amy Adams (The Master) sported a pale robin's egg blue Oscar de la Renta gown so dramatic that the tiered, flowing skirt nearly took up its own seat in the front row of the Dolby Theatre.
Presenter Reese Witherspoon wore a sleek, strapless cobalt blue gown with a black trim on the bodice, designed by Louis Vuitton and paired with the designers jewelry.

Best actress nominee Helen Hunt (The Sessions) took great delight in telling style scribes on the red carpet that she was wearing an H&M eco-conscious royal blue gown. It didn’t hurt that the As Good as It Gets Oscar winner looks amazing in -- or out -- of clothes in her role as a sex therapist, as everyone who has seen The Sessions can attest.
Performer Jennifer Hudson -- also an Oscar winner for her supporting role in Dreamgirls in 2007 -- chose a sexy slit, sequined Roberto Cavalli long-sleeved blue gown when she arrived at the ceremony.
But the cutest blue note of the evening was worn by Quvenzhane Wallis, the 9-year-old best actress nominee for Beasts of the Southern Wild. Her dress -- a navy blue, puff-sleeve Armani Junior design with a back bow detail and matching wrap -- was roundly praised by fashion critics. The youngest actress to be nominated for an Oscar also wore a sparkly headband and carried a puppy purse.
