Oscar Trend Alert: Barely Blush

Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway kick off the non-color of the night.

At the Indie Spirit Awards on Saturday, we saw a slew of white and pale gowns. And the trend continued at the Oscars, with dresses ranging from white to blush-toned pink congregating on the red carpet.

If there was ever anything more beautiful than Zoe Saldana's gradient white-to-pearl-to-gray sculpted Alexis Mabille couture gown at the Oscars, we're not sure what it was. The gown starts with a rosette sculpted bodice with real shape, then cascades into layers of gradient pale tones -- a hem we've rarely seen the like of.

Mabille is a Parisian couturier whom Saldana has worn before -- including to the THR 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood lunch in March -- and one she and stylist Petra Flannery clearly have a relationship with.

The house of Dior dressed the two women on the red carpet they have contracts with: Charlize Theron being the first. Her white sculpted Dior Couture bustier gown is a bit reminiscent of a gown Kate Hudson wore to the Globes several years ago, but the peplum updates it and the fabric is not as hard or stiff, as it's in silk. It also has a smattering of beads on it. Her clutch was also Dior in white leather. Theron and stylist Leslie Fremar, who also has done an amazing job with Julianne Moore this awards season, are definitely a great team.

Jennifer Lawrence's Dior Haute Couture gown is actually a very pale pink, not the white it reads on camera. It's strapless and clings to the body till the hips, then flares out --  a very flattering silhouette for her -- and, in our opinion, the best she's looked all awards season. Both she and Anne Hathaway worked with stylist Rachel Zoe, which clearly means that this blush, nearly white hue is about to become a color trend.
