PETA Is Fur-ious About Mary-Kate, Ashley Olsen's $17,000 Patchwork Fur Backpack (Video)

But the diminuitive designers continue to earn PETA’s ire over their ongoing use of fur in their upscale collection, The Row. And now they’re using various kinds of fur and crocodile skin in their new handbag line.

Stylist/designer Rachel Zoe has already annointed the twins' $17,000 patchwork fur backpack “next season’s staple” on her website, The Zoe Report.

There is no mention of "fur" in Zoe's rave review, but here's her ringing endorsement: "Toting around a jam-packed purse can be terribly tiring. Surely, there has to be a chic way to lug a load of beauty basics, stylish sunnies and a weighty wallet without weighing down our arms. Turns out, there is! Let your wrists unwind this summer with a modern backpack, a trend we are currently keen on, thanks to The Row. Not only will your body thank you, but your new bag will also boast a fashion prowess previously unprecedented."

Here's what PETA wrote about the pricy fur backpack: "If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it's probably a Trollsen Twin -- or someone wearing one of their new $17,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals. What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it's the foxes, calves and alligators -- who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain -- who pay the dearest price."

On The Row’s website, the bag is described as "multi patchwork fur,"  but they also offer bags made of slate shiny alligator and black alligator skin. The preposterously pricy fur tote isn't the only item in the Pre-Fall collection from The Row that will no doubt anger the animal rights activists further. They’ve also designed an opulent patchwork fur coat and a patchwork fur stole.

If you’re an anti-fur fashionista, you may love PETA's website dedicated to the Trollson Twins . You can dress the designing sisters’ likenesses in bloody furs and enter the Hairy-Kate and Trashley House of Horrors.
