Off screen, the Canadian-born actress has a more daring fashion sensibility and enjoys mixing things up from day-to-day (she combined a colorful Stella McCartney top with Monika Chiang leather pants at ABC Family: Winter Wonderland Dec. 2 and sported a lavender Charlotte Ronson mini for a visit to Extra Oct. 19). In contrast to her TV persona, who dresses with a sporty, tough-girl edge, some of Mitchell’s favorite looks are sweet and sexy. “I have two favorite red carpet moments,” she said. “A Giorgio Armani navy dress with a plunge neckline that I wore to The Avengers premiere, and the neon Donna Karen bustier dress I wore to this year's Teen Choice Awards.”

"I'm a fan of designers and clothes that look beautiful, but more importantly, make me feel beautiful and confident. It's why I've always loved Stella McCartney, and more recently, Prabal Gurung. Their pieces are cool, yet timeless, and the fits are effortlessly flattering. For everyday, Rebecca Minkoff's collection is chic and comfortable at the same time."

FAVORITE SHOPPING DESTINATIONS:
"Honestly, the last few months I have had NO TIME to shop! But when I do, I like going into random vintage stores, mostly in Venice, California, to get unique pieces that are a one-of-a-kind. I also like Satine in L.A., and Net-A-Porter for some online shopping."

FAVORITE RECENT PURCHASE:
"I recently bought a great pair of Paige jeans with black and white stripes. I like the whole black and white look, especially for this season. I am also lusting over a Celine bag and Tom Ford pumps."

TRAVEL MUST-HAVES:
"I like to layer when I fly – the climate always changes from the airport to the plane to the new city. My must-haves are comfy shoes (wedged sneakers), jeans, a tank, a cute coat like a leather bomber, scarf, my sunglasses and a hat! I also can’t forget my iPhone for music."

FASHION MISHAPS:
"Once, I had to clip a jacket back to take a picture, and after they were done I forgot to remove the clip until someone noticed…."
