Inside 'Pretty Little Liars' Star Shay Mitchell's Fashionable World (Video)

The actress talks spring trends with THR at West Hollywood boutique Beckley.

As the temperatures rise and the spring flowers begin to bloom, there’s no better time for a wardrobe revamp.

Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell did just that during a recent shopping trip with The Hollywood Reporter, hitting West Hollywood boutique Beckley to talk spring and summer trends. Her favorites: black and whites, florals, pastels and sportswear, but that doesn’t mean she’s afraid of a little neon.

“This is me in a nutshell,” she muses, picking up a glittering Kaufman Franco Mango sequin dress with mesh detailing (retail: $2,925). “Clearly the color is poppin',” she says. “This would be an amazing red carpet dress.”

The trick to wearing bright colors, Mitchell explains, is “matching everything up with your makeup. If you do go with a super bright color, you either want to enhance it and wear a pop lip or mute it down, depending on what you’re going for.”

Asked to pick an item for her Pretty Little Liars character Emily, Mitchell is quick to spot a faded denim shirt by JET with studs ($165) and pair it with more denim, for a Canadian tuxedo, or black leather pants. “My style is kind of similar [to Emily’s],” she says. “I love the fact that Emily is comfortable but still very trendy.”

When it comes to her jewels, Mitchell easily gravitates towards punk-friendly fare, picking up a pair of Fallon Rosewell microspike earrings ($190) and a Fallon Rosewell collar necklace ($300). “This is amazing,” she says of the bling.
