Robert Pattinson to Wear Gucci for First Post-Scandal Public Appearance
All eyes will be on the "Cosmopolis" actor Monday night, stepping out for the first time since the Kristen Stewart debacle to promote his new movie in New York.
Gucci just sent out a press release that Robert Pattinson will wear the Italian label tonight to the New York Premiere of Cosmopolis at The Museum of Modern Art. This was expected, of course, because he often wears Gucci to red carpet events.

But more importantly, Pattinson’s character in the film, Eric Packer, is dressed in one of Gucci’s signature silhouettes exclusively -- a black two button notch lapel Signoria suit. The impeccably tailored ensemble Pattinson dons in the film is paired with a fitted white cotton shirt, slim black silk tie, leather belt with silver buckle detail and black leather lace up dress shoes.
“We are so pleased to work with Robert on Cosmopolis and to create an effortless and classic style for his character,” said Gucci creative director, Frida Giannini.
The design house has been dressing Pattinson frequently since the shooting of Cosmopolis, which is directed by David Cronenberg.
There was speculation that Pattinson might not promote the film after longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart admitted to an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. After briefly shuttering himself off from the public eye, a rep for Pattinson told The Hollywood Reporter, “Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting. No confirmed engagements have been canceled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.”
Following the red carpet premiere, Pattinson is also slated to speak with reporters and will appear on The Daily Show and give a live interview on Good Morning America later this week.

The project is one Pattinson is very enthusiastic about -- based on the Don DeLillo apocalyptic novel -- so all eyes will be on him to see how he dodges Kristen questions. Chances are, he won't actually speak to anyone in the print or tv media at the film's premiere -- he'll likely just walk the carpet quickly and smile. One thing's for sure, though: he'll look good.
