Des Kohan — the L.A. clothing and jewelry boutique adored by the likes of Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried — has a new line with which to tempt Hollywood. Its new Garland Collection vintage department includes jewels and home goods curated by designer Nicole Mann Novick, who designs Garland’s fine jewelry line. The vintage pieces include baubles from Pierre Cardin, Karl Lagerfeld and Givenchy. The store has a new home line too -- think antique abalone trays, custom bolsters in John Robshaw prints and Italian gilt sconces.
“Garland Collection’s Maison home division became the natural next step to fully round out the Garland lifestyle,” said Novick. “Like our fine and vintage jewelry, the home pieces that I select or design are based on their statement style, inherent beauty, extraordinary details, and quirky sensibility.”
The boutique has already made a name for itself among L.A. style insiders with its own jewelry designs comprised of standout costume pieces (70’s buckle bracelets, swan shaped bangles and multi stone necklaces) and fine metals (delicate diamond-vine two-finger rings, personalized nameplates, star shaped earrings and elephant and owl pendants). Pieces have been spotted on Emma Roberts and Lea Michele.
Kohan -- who opened her eponymous boutique in 2005-- carries both high-end designers like Viktor & Rolf and Hussein Chalayan and emerging talents such as Juan Carlos Obando, including several one-of-a-kind pieces and custom items, including pillows and textile pieces to compliment the new home collection.
“Clients are always looking for vintage home objects and one-of-a-kind finds that are not found elsewhere,” said Kohan of her boutique’s loyal followers. “We are especially doing well with our vintage as they make great gifts for the hard to please.”
