Thursday Night Pre-Oscar Party Diary: Stars Step Out

Parties by LoveGold, Tom Ford and Ellen Von Unwerth dominated the festive scene.

6:00 p.m.

Sally Morrison of the World Gold Council and the LoveGold effort gave a chic cocktail soiree at the Selma House of the Chateau Marmont. Morrison and Alice Ryan hosted a presentation of vintage Fred Leighton jewelry worn by stars, and actresses like Natasha Lyonne, Argo's Clea Duvall and Garcelle Beauvais were all in covetous mode over it. The Selma House at Chateau is the new mega-in spot.

7 p.m.

Tom Ford hosted a cocktail party in support of Project Angel Food and the new Tom Ford eyewear collection in his Beverly Hills flagship store on Rodeo Drive. Ford worked the crowd like the Pope, hanging out with Valentino partner Giancarlo Giacometti. 8:30 p.m.

Producer Nikhil Sharma hosted a screening and soiree of famed fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth's short film Treesome, which she shot near her home in Majorca. It stars Rhys Ifans in black and white, and word has it, the famed von Unwerth is getting closer to considering a feature film debut. All kinds of fashion and hipster notables dropped by and the film was screened in Bungalow One on a loop late into the night.
