'Veep' Star Reid Scott Goes Hollywood in New Mr Porter.com Spread

Veep star Reid Scott might be a New Yorker at heart, but the 35 year-old Syracuse alum seems to have assimilated himself to the swimming pools and movie stars of sunny SoCal just fine. Or so he says in the latest issue of menswear e-commerce retailer Mr Porter.com's online magazine, The Journal, the May incarnation of which launches on Tuesday with a California theme.

"Obviously, when I first came to the land of blond-haired, blue-eyed surfer types, I was the sardonic, sarcastic, liquor-swilling, chain-smoking, dark-haired, dark-eyed guy from New York," he says in the website's Mike Hodgkinson-penned Q&A. "I think that helped me out a little bit."

Scott is readying to reprise his role of Dan Egan, the deputy director of communications to Julia Louis-Dreyfus' vice presidential Selina Meyer character, when Veep returns to HBO on April 14.

"As far as I’m concerned season two is a huge step up even from season one, which I was thrilled about. It’s getting really, really funny," he tells The Journal.

In the beachfront shoot, which was photographed by Bruno Staub, Scott wears a mix of casually cool, Cali-appropriate Americana gear by the likes of Saturday's Surf, Levi's Vintage Clothing, Dolce & Gabbana and Garrett Leight California Optical, the Venice-based eyewear line founded by the son of Oliver Peoples owner Larry Leight

When asked how he describes his personal style, he tells The Journal that he tries to style himself in "Classic Hollywood" fashion.

"To be casual it’s always jeans -- but nice jeans. And sneakers, but clean sneakers. And a crisp white T-shirt, and stuff like that. I’ve got to say I enjoy a good suit. Something about a really well-tailored suit; I like it. I never want it to be ostentatious or anything, just simple and very understated. To me, Cary Grant is probably the most fashionable man in the history of Hollywood. The guy was just slick. He did it so effortlessly."
