Vera Wang Announces Separation From Husband After 23 Years of Marriage
The world's most successful designer of wedding gowns announces she and longtime hubbie Arthur Becker are parting ways.
After twenty three years of marriage, Vera Wang and husband Arthur Becker have decided to separate. Wang's company president, Mario Grauso, gave the fashion trade a statement on Wednesday, July 11, as first reported by WWD.
“Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate," said Grauso. "They remain devoted parents to their two daughters."

Now Monday morning quarterbacks are looking back at her fall 2012 bridal collection, shown months ago, speculating there could have been some code in the collection's palette: black, nude and blush. While Wang's ready-to-wear is always filled with blacks and deep neutrals, her wedding gowns are known for froth, tulle, pearls and embroidery. Wang notably bought a house in Los Angeles in 2011, posing in a swimsuit for Harper's Bazaar's photo of the new home -- perhaps another bellweather of a separation?
Wang and her husband have two daughters, Cecilia and Josephine. Becker has businesses of his own, but is also involved in Wang's designer business, which now includes mass market lines at Kohl's, home goods, makeup, fragrance and a lower costing bridal line.
Wang started out as an editor, working most notably at Vogue, before going on to work for Ralph Lauren in 1987. She opened her own private salon at New York's Carlyle Hotel in 1990.
Wang designed costumes for ice skaters early on, because she herself had been one. She's designed wedding gowns for some of the world's most famous women, recently including Kim Kardashian's three gowns in 2011, her sister Khloe's gown for her marriage to Lamar Odom in 2009 and Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott in January of 2012.
