NBC's 1960s drama saw a flurry of controversy even before it premiered this fall, with the Parents Television Council targeting the show for objectifying and degrading women. Due to the PTCs campaign, several advertisers pulled their ads once the show began to air. The controversial drama premiered to meager ratings, and was axed after just three episodes. Still, the series had a longer life than several shows over the years that were put out of their misery after one or two episodes.
