Claire Danes and Jon Voight in 'John Grisham's The Rainmaker'
Best actress and supporting actor in a drama series nominees Claire Danes (Homeland) and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan) were once part of the cast of John Grisham's The Rainmaker. In the 1997 movie adaptation of the best-selling novel, starring Matt Damon, Danes plays an abused wife who forms a connection with Damon's young lawyer, who faces off in court against a villainous insurance lawyer, played by Voight.
Best actress and actor in a drama series nomineesRobin Wright (House of Cards) and Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) both played memorable supporting roles in 2009's State of Play, the movie version of the British miniseries. In the film, Wright plays the wife of Ben Affleck's Congressman Stephen Collins and Daniels plays Collins’ colleague Sen. George Fergus, who both find themselves connected to a potential military and political conspiracy.
