Selena Gomez hosted the Nov. 6 awards show, which was broadcast live from Belfast, Ireland. Among the evening's memorable moments were performances from Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Coldplay, while Hayden Panettiere was interrupted on stage by an unexpected guest.
Bruno Mars took the stage to perform his latest single, "Marry You." Mars nabbed the award for Best Push Act backstage, and accepted the honor of Best New Act in front of the podium.
Show host Selena Gomez made her entrance with some serious pyrotechnics, engulfing the singer in a ring of fire.
As usual, Lady Gaga delivered a memorable outfit and performance during the Nov. 6 awards show. The singer took home the honors of Best Female, Best Song and Best Video.
Katy Perry earned the evening's first award, Best Live, presented by the ladies of Jersey Shore.
Chris Martin and the rest of the Coldplay crew kicked off the show with a high-energy performance of "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall."
Hayden Panettiere, Streaker
In perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, Hayden Panettiere was interrupted on stage by an unexpected streaker.
Jessie J performed "Price Tag" during the MTV Europe Music Awards. The songstress was looking much more mobile compared to her MTV VMAs appearance when she was anchored down by a broken leg.
Adam Lambert and Queen
Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert joined forces with Queen to perform a medley of "The Show Must Go On," "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions." Queen was honored with the Global Icon Award at the event. Lambert has often cited Queen and its late frontman Freddie Mercury as a powerful influence on his own music.
Justin Bieber, who won Best Male Act and Best Pop Act at the event, performed a mash-up of "Mistletoe" and "Never Say Never." The singer didn't share a stage with girlfriend Selena Gomez, who – at 19 – was the youngest host ever of the awards show.
LMFAO perform with South Korean band Big Bang during the MTV Europe Music Awards event in Belfast. After the event, the duo partied with Justin Bieber at the afterparty.
Jersey Shore starlets Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "JWoww" Farley made an appearance at the event, delivering the first award of the night."What's up Belfast? 'Jersey Shore' is in the house!" they greeted the crowd.
David Hasselhoff appeared at the MTV Europe Music Awards as a presenter. Earlier in the night, he tweeted photos of himself with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
