Exclusive Portraits of Leslie Moonves' Lavish Home Theater

Architect Dennis Gibbens

Architect Dennis Gibbens was photographed Sept. 20 in the Moonves-Chen home theater, where the walls are lined with neutral-toned linen/wool panels. The inside of the theater door is made of walnut to match the room’s other wood surfaces, while the outside of the door is finished in black lacquer and studded with inlay mother-of-pearl.

Perfect Screen View

The architect built two full-size models of the three-tiered seating plan to ensure that every chair offered a perfect screen view.

Theater Seating Areas

Hand-hewn walnut dividers separate the seating areas of the theater, which accommodates as many as 18 people.

High-Comfort Viewing

Extra-wide and long seating in the theater makes for movie viewing in high comfort. The custom-designed table was inspired by French designer Jean-Michel Frank and is made of scrubbed and bleached oak.

Powder Room

The powder room has highly lacquered peacock-blue walls with sconce lighting by Alison Berger Glassworks.

Entry Hall's Rose Garden View

The entry hall looks on to the property’s rose garden, while its oval-shaped window echoes the main home’s architecture. Gibbens designed the bench settee, which was built by Posse Furniture.

Home-Theater Entry Hall

The entry hall to the home-theater building is lined with hand-painted Gracie wallpaper. Gibbens designed the demilune console table and mirror, which were made by Posse Furniture.

Intimate Lounge Area

In the lounge, walnut walls and floors create an intimate, clubby atmosphere. Gibbens custom-designed all of the seating as well as the tables and shelves. The architect purchased the antique chandelier, originally made for a bank, in New Orleans.

Kitchen/Bar Area

The kitchen/bar area features custom-designed stools and chocolate-colored Caesarstone countertops. Gibbens installed a series of red ribbon lights in the wine room for an unexpected visual glow that is visible from the entrance to the lounge area.
