Though she does not appear in Django Unchained,Uma Thurman showed up to support her Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill director. Samuel L. Jackson, another frequent Tarantino collaborator, said that Thurman is the Oscar-winner's muse.
An Oscar winner for his bad guy role in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, Christoph Waltz plays a good guy bounty hunter in Django. Prior to the screening, he hadn't seen the film, and said after watching it, "I feel numb."
The film's writer/director, Tarantino gave a spirited introduction of his cast before the film debuted. He warned the crowd there may be some projector flares, and joked that a few years ago, he would have thrown a major fit and canceled the event.
