Nine Inch Nails gave the 60,000-plus gathered at the main stage Saturday evening nearly two hours of an intense ride, with a booming bass line overtaking the Polo Field with Trent Reznor appearing alone onstage at the start of the show as bandmembers emerged from behind.

Indie darlings Vampire Weekend made its Outside Lands debut Sunday afternoon on the main stage and the foursome never lost the pep in its step, rolling through crowd-pleasers "A-Punk" and "Oxford Comma," while smartly catering to the Bay Area crowd with California songs like "Step," "One (Blake's Got a New Face)" and "Hannah Hunt."

At one point during the duo's set, YouTuber Nicki Bluhm -- whose cover "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" made waves -- came onstage to perform with Oates.
