Sundance 2012: Will Ferrell-Produced 'Bachelorette' Premieres With James Marsden, Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan (Videos)

The cast spoke with THR as they walked the red carpet at Park City's Eccles Theater along with writer-director Leslye Headland. The buzzy festival film is produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez shingle.

Bachelorette co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan talk Bridesmaids comparisons. Says Caplan, "You just don't ever ready stuff like this for girls, it's always boys that get to be these characters."
Isla Fisher, who also stars in the film, left the festival early and did not attend the premiere.
'Bachelorette' Writer-Director Leslye Headland at Sundance
Writer-Director Leslye Headland wrote the story for Bachelorette in 2008, which is based on the sin of gluttony and explores the dark world of eating disorders, drugs and casual sex.
"Adam [McKay] and Will [Ferrell] came to see it and they said, 'You should turn this into a movie,'" Headland told THR on the red carpet. "And I actually had already written the screenplay, so I was like 'Oh, funny you should say that, cause I happen to have my screenplay right here.' It really was one of those Hollywood stories."

From the red carpet of the Bachelorette premiere, James Marsden describes his character as an "unabashed douche-bag" groomsman.
Talking about director Leslye Headland, he added, "She was so excited to take my image from Enchanted and just like, take a big dump on it. Turn it completely upside-down... but it's a fun character to play."
'Bachelorette' Actress Arden Myrin at Sundance
Comedian and actress Arden Myrin reveals that her character in Bachelorette is a "badass," which is new to her. Among the highlights of her trip to Park City was hanging out with rapper/actor Common, who is in town to promote his film LUV.
'Bachelorette' Actor Kyle Bornheimer at Sundance
First time Sundance visitor Kyle Bornheimer praised the work of writer-director Leslye Headland, saying, "There was no one on this set that didn't chase after it, you know want to be part of it. From reading it and then meeting her she is a great talent, a great voice and fun and inspiring to work with."
Bornheimer plays a groomsman pining after Isla Fisher's character in the film.
'Bachelorette' Actress Rebel Wilson at Sundance
When asked about the comparison of the two movies, Bridesmaids and Bachelorette actress Rebel Wilson said: "If people come to this expecting Bridesmaids 2, they will be very shocked because it is tonally a completely different movie. It's so dark, edgy and a lot more dramatic."
The actress also reveals why she was nicknamed "The Lucky Charm" on set.
