Maha Dahkil (Motion Picture Agent, CAA), Leslie Siebert (Managing Partner, Gersh), Debbee Klein (Co-head Literary Department, Paradigm), Lorrie Bartlett (Partner, ICM), Sharon Jackson (Partner WME), Blair Kohan (Motion Picture Agent, UTA) join senior editor Stacy Wilson and senior writer Lacey Rose to discuss everything from their clients to their competition.
Our roundtable guests talk about their roles as agents and being acknowledged by their clients. CAA Motion Picture Agent Maha Dahkil shared, "I won't go in to specifics but on a daily basis, being thanked or appreciated it is just an acknowledgment of we're inside a game plan together, we're in some kind of journey together and we are both appreciating and acknowledging what the other is doing, whether it is public or not, it is important to be appreciated."
The Agents: Delegating Jobs
From set visits, to flying, to dinner meetings, our roundtable guests share the jobs they would prefer to delegate out. "Dinner meetings because I like to be home, I like to be with my kids. I try very hard to balance my parenting, and my family, and my parents and everyone else and my husband and the job and I've always done it that way. So I'm fine to be on the phone till god knows what hour but I don't physically like to be out in the evening," added Paradigm's Debbee Klein.
The Agents: Realizing They've Made It
Our agents talk about their "pinch me" moment and realizing they had finally made it as an agent. Debbee Klein reveals her first client was Melanie Griffith and Leslie Siebert talks about brokering a deal for Anthony Perkins. Blair Kohan added, "When I bought my first house at thirty it was a real milestone, I thought this is amazing, it doesn't need to get better than this. So anyways I thought for me the arrival for me, I'm rooted in LA, I own this house, I've made it."
