Running neck-and-neck with NBC's Sunday Night Football, the average cost of a 30-second ad in Fox's Idol runs between $468,100 and $502,900. Idol's prices generally increase as the show reaches its finale, with some spots going for as much as $640,000.
A 30-second spot in NBC's much-watched football contest runs approximately $512,367 on average.
In its fourth season (2007-2008) ABC's Grey's Anatomy commanded an average cost of $419,000 for a 30-second spot, making it the most expensive program of the fall. Entering its eighth season, the show has dropped off the top 10 most-expensive programs, earning $203,078 per ad.
Also slipping, Disney network's Desperate Housewives led the pack in 2006 with an average price of $394,000. The dramedy, in its last season, commands just $149,556 per spot.
Fox's popular animation Family Guy notches an average cost of $264,912.
'Two and a Half Men'
CBS' Two and a Half Men now brings in an average of $252,418, compared to $206,722 pre-Ashton Kutcher.
ABC's Modern Family pulls an average of $249,388 per 30-second commercial.

'The X Factor'
Simon Cowell's latest import is the most expensive new show for advertisers, commanding an average of $320,000 per 30-second spot during its Wednesday broadcast. The Thursday episode brings in $283,034 on average for 30 seconds. As a whole, The X Factor is the fourth- and fifth-most expensive programs in prime time overall.
The long-running Fox animation costs $254,260 for a 30-second ad.
