Adam West Reunites With Original Batmobile (Photo)
TV's Batman celebrates at an event debuting products based on his 1960s show.
Superhero icon Adam West looked right at home as he was reunited with a trusty friend -- the original Batmobile from his classic 1960s TV show.
West, who played Batman on the ABC show from 1966-68, posed for photos in front of the famed vehicle alongside Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products, and Jim Lee, DC Entertainment co-publisher, at an event Thursday debuting merchandise based on the series.
“This TV series introduced a whole new generation to Batman, and I am so proud to have been a part of that phenomenon. Events like this remind us all of the legacy of the show and its staying power for generations to come; and it’s fun to play Batman,” said West.
The event showcasing toys based on the series also featured other memorabilia used on the show, including such gadgets as the Bat-Phone, Bat-O-Rang and Bat-Shield.
Here’s hoping no one scratched the paint job on the Batmobile during the event. In January, the first of six Batmobiles produced for the show sold at auction for $4.6 million.
